TIIDELAB Fellowship PALACE of CREATIVITY

My ~

First day at TIIDELAB fellowship was superb and the experience is something I will never forget to talk about in my career and not only as a developer.

We had a morning meeting on zoom with Mr. Saheed Adepoju (Encypher, Co-founder of eTab) UK based, he was really a great mentor who put us through the steps on how we can fit in and become an INDUSTRY EMPLOYABLE DEVELOPER; during his explanations, he made us to realize that, there’s more to software developing rather than coding, the ability to analyze, fetch out, quick decision making, critical thinking, fundamental basics, approaches, communication skills, all really matters, as little things we often don’t really take as big deals are the keys to open our appointment letters as a developer or a job seeker.

And the priceless gift from him to us was the advice to keep practicing, no matter how hard an ALGORITHM or working with DATA STRUCTURES might seems, he emphasized on persistence attempts, as a toddler doesn’t walk in a day too (that’s right).

He showed us the job interview task format of GOOGLE, FACEBOOK and AMAZON, which includes 8 hours of interviews with different managers and teams within the organization before you’re EMPLOYED (Am I fit for that? Not yet), the amazing similarities between the tasks were DATA STRUCTURE, BIG O AND ALGORITHM, ability to analyze rather than jumping into coding what you probably won’t need lines or bunch of codes for.

My take away was to make it an habit to try and always provide a better solution(or close) to a problem rather than fixing it with a rushed bad solution which will only give births to another headache or complex problems in the future, even if the main current problem is solved.

He taught us what BIG O is and not only explains how to apply it into our coding skills but also how it should reflect in our day to day activities as we grow.

I learnt how DATA STRUCTURE and ALGORITHM is a big deal in big Tech Companies when writing a program because they are the pillars for a good code which makes a better program, our code or programs might work without putting the 3 approaches into consideration, but will it pass the TEST of SPEED and TIME? I NEVER KNEW THOSE EXIST EITHER.

He made drove us to a point to know that, it is all the big companies are interested in and not about coding a thousand of lines and lines of codes. That they actually need a solution provider with less or no critical bad side effect.

The Chairman of TIIDELAB Mr. Kadir also made it clear to us that we all should figure out the reason we want to be a software developer, is it to create more problems to the existing ones we have or to help the world through our skills, and we should build ourselves to become a problem solvers which can work in any sector we find ourselves in the nearest future, starting from right now!!!.

We went into our self learning session where we studied the materials sent to our e-mail, it was really a great time for me, cause I am used to studying alone and also been a self taught.

We reported back at 3 pm on zoom where we were shared into peers to have a review discussion on what we have learnt in the self learning session.

I enjoyed the time with my Fellow mates in the same group with me because I was able to grab more from their explanations and I was chanced to share my own illustration about all the SUBJECT too (I will share that here too lolxx).

We reported back to the main group after 40 minutes of great moments with my peers, which I was the Leader and gave feedback on what we have discussed and solved within the sessions.

It has really been so nice and educative so far and it’s just day 1 and overall it is a great opportunity to be among the FELLOWS in the COHORT 2

The way I see things now is really different, thanks to TIIDELAB for the priceless EXPERIENCE.
